Glitzy Glass Jewellery Workshop with Stevie Davies

29th June -
10:30am to 1:00pm

This workshop is a great introduction to some simple Glass Fusing techniques as well as a chance for you to develop your ideas from a previous workshop. Spend the morning making Jewellery and unique cabochons which you can take further with your other projects including but not limited to, silver smithing, beading, wire wrapping and mosaics.

After being taken through the process of cutting sheet glass safely, we will enjoy layering small pieces of coloured glass with copper elements and Dichroic sparkle. The aim for this workshop will be to create at least 2-4 items depending on your chosen designs and finishes and all basic materials and findings are included in the workshop fee so you can come and make items such as pendants, earrings, cufflinks and brooches. Extra special findings can be purchased on the day, at cost. Your work will be taken by Stevie to her studio to be fired, cleaned, finished and delivered to the Focus Gallery (or we can discuss delivery/collection/postage to you) approximately 2 weeks after the workshop.

Textured Glass Wall Art Workshop with Stevie Davies

29th June -
2:00pm to 4:30pm

In this popular workshop you will design and create a piece of artwork by manipulating different types of glass details, along with wire and metal, to create a highly textured panel. With a focus of colour and abstract form you will make a truly unique piece of glass art for you home. No experience necessary, just a love of colour and detail.

Your creations will need to be fired, cleaned and finished by Stevie, before returning them back to to the Focus Gallery for you to collect. This will take approximately two weeks (hopefully less). You are welcome to bring your own inspirational images too, we are aiming for abstract shapes and patterns. Stevie wouldn’t recommend anything figurative or any realistic images to try to copy. Your pieces can made with a wire loop, as a hanging, or mounted in a frame. Stevie will have a variety of frames to choose from or you can source your own, before or after the session. What size piece can you expect to make? The course fee will give you enough materials to make a 15cm square piece of glass which could replace the sheet of glass in a picture frame. That way you can feel the textures of your design. Or you may like to create a triptych of 3 5x15cm or a selection of 5cm tiles. Both these options would then need mounting at a later date, Stevie is happy to advise on how you can do this.
