How to approach the gallery

Artists looking for representation with Focus Gallery.

Focus Gallery has been supporting artists since 1971, and are always on the search for interesting new work to offer our customers. We only accept work that has been designed and produced within the UK, to showcase the very best quality art and craft Britain has to offer. To get an idea of the work we accept we encourage you to pay us a visit or browse our online shop.

Should you wish to approach the gallery please do so by email. Email us on info@focusgallerynottingham.com for the attention of Antonia Disney our gallery owner. Please tell us about yourself and your work and include a couple of low res images alongside your website or a page we can look at. In your cover email please include your current prices, either trade or recommended retail price and any other outlets you sell with. This is useful for us to establish whether the prices will suit our gallery and sit well with the other work we have on show here. It is helpful if you can let us know if you are happy to exhibit work on sale or return as this is the preferred method for all new artists. Sizes of pieces are helpful should they be larger scale or wall art. Due to space at the gallery we need to asses if it with fit on our walls, or if it’s a freestanding piece where items would go for best effect.

Please do not be disheartened if we do not contact you straight away. We have lots of artist submissions to get through and are a very small team so your email may be placed into a file for future displays. Please do not keep calling to check on progress, by all means send a follow up email or phone call but artists who continually get in touch are less likely to be considered. We like to work with a broad range of artists and try to reply to all our emails even if it is to say that your work isn’t suitable for us but please keep getting in touch with other galleries where your work will suit perfectly.

Should you require any further guidance on how to approach galleries and shops or how to prepare your work for trade Antonia also offers tailored workshops covering these subjects, using her background in both galleries and experience running her own jewellery business. Take a look on our workshops page for more information.
