Focus Gallery was established in 1971 by Norman Roland and since then it has continued to grow and thrive and become one of Nottinghams most respected and well known places for beautiful and unique art and crafts.
In December 2014 Antonia Disney became the new owner at Focus and with a jewellery and gallery background her ideas are bursting as to where to take the gallery next. Antonia is the fourth owner in nearly 45 years which goes to show how much it is loved by both the owners and the public.
The customer service is always warm and friendly here at Focus Gallery and we want our customers to relax and enjoy the environment without feeling pressured to purchase. We see the gallery as a great place to find inspiration, discover new British Arts and Crafts at it's finest and discover the wealth of valuable techniques used in the UK to create these wonderful pieces of art.
From jewellery, wood, textiles, paintings, glass, ceramics, metalwork and mixed media you will always find something to your taste at Focus Gallery.
With expert advice and a genuine passion for the artwork on show we will help you with finding that special gift, choosing the right piece for a room or just general advice about what we have to offer. We specialise in jewellery and have a whole floor dedicated to sparkling silver, glorious gold and gorgeous gemstones to suit all tastes and requirements.
We also offer one day workshops in various mediums, have a wonderful jewellery school in our workshop and even have on site jewellers for bespoke commissions. More services include, gift vouchers, gift lists for that special occasion and even wedding ring workshops to make your day even more special.
Please feel free to ask us about anything you require and we will be more than happy to help.
We have a small team here at the gallery who all have art and design backgrounds.
Antonia who is the gallery owner has a jewellery degree from Staffordshire University, Stephen who volunteers with us specialised in ceramics at Nottingham Trent and Phoebe who also volunteers is a glass bead lampworker who graduated from De Montfort, Leicester. We have a fabulous onsite jeweller, Rachel Helen Designs who has been a practising jeweller for well over 10 years and specialises in bespoke designs including engagement and wedding rings and uses beautiful gemstones as well as working in all valuable metals.
We also have a wonderful apprentice as part of a collaborative scheme between NCN and the Craft Academy in Nottingham. Students have been given the opportunity to be placed in creative businesses as part of a two year NVQ. Our apprentice Sophie is doing extremely well so far here. Why not read Sophie's blog where she documents her progress throughout the course.
This year at Focus Gallery we have welcomed local Nottingham artist Tony Brodrick to use our ground floor as a permanent space for his artwork.
This creates a wonderful light and airy gallery space full of Tony's fascinating landscapes, floral creations and other artworks.
The floor has now been aptly named Brodrick's Gallery and Framing and we are delighted to have him with us so please pop by for a visit.
Tony will also showcase local watercolour artist John Pooler who is well known for his wonderful local scenes and Italian architectural images.
For direct contact please email Tony on firstname.lastname@example.org
